Fire Pits Today is the day that you’ve been waiting for! Our team at Lake Norman Signature Pools & Patios recently finished up your new fire pit, and you can’t wait to set up a fire and roast some s’mores. However, there’s just one problem – you’ve never started a fire before.

Many people are just like you and are unaware of how to use their fire pits and keep their fire going throughout the night. Luckily, the process is easy. To start, you will need to collect some supplies, such as:

  • A lighter or a box of matches
  • Some tinder to get your fire started, like a few scraps of paper or some wood shavings
  • Kindling and some larger pieces of wood

Remember, most fire pits are fairly small, so you won’t need too much wood to get a good fire started. After you have your supplies, put the kindling on the base of your fire pit and your tinder on top of it. Then, using a lighter or a match, light your fire.

Fire pits need kindling added to them gradually. Keep in mind that in order to ensure that your fire gets enough oxygen, you will need to place your kindling loosely around the fire.

Once you have your fire up and going, you can either keep adding more kindling, or let your fire burn down as your evening comes to a close. Make sure you properly extinguish the fire in your fire pit before you go back in the house.
