When it comes to creating attractive, safe pool deck paving, there are a variety of styles and materials to choose from.
With a wide range of shapes and colors, concrete is a very versatile choice for pool paving. It’s durable and resistant to chlorine, as well as salt, and it offers a slip-resistant surface for both bare feet and shoes. But since it’s more porous that other pavers, concrete needs periodic re-sealing to avoid water damage.
The natural earthy tones of brick can blend in beautifully with almost any pool design; plus, it will remain unaffected by both chlorine and heat, making brick pavers safe and durable. Brick pavers are easy to install – as long as the surface is even. Curved, uneven or hilly areas make pool deck paving with brick more difficult. To avoid potential moss growth and ensure longevity, the deck should be sealed after installation.
Stone pavers offer a big selection of shapes, sizes, colors, types and styles. Unlike brick and concrete pool deck paving, which are both synthetic, stone is naturally created over centuries, which gives it unique variations and accents that result in one-of-a-kind designs. Stone will not fade or crack, and its slightly uneven surface creates slip-resistance around pools. Although they are inherently strong, it’s important to seal stone pavers to preserve their color and to protect against water damage.
